Dean and his wife, Susan, returned from mission work in Cambodia in 2017 and moved to the Enderby area. They began attending the Chapel that fall. Susan teaches Gr. 1 at Kings Christian School in Salmon Arm. Dean has been the Principal and Associate Principal of Christian schools in Alberta and the Academic Dean of a Bible college in Thailand. Together they have served as missionaries in Japan, Thailand and Cambodia for 12 years. They have three grown children living in the Calgary area. Dean and Susan enjoy cross-country skiing, camping and sailing.
As Interim Pastor, Dean will be working with Pastor Ryan, Joan and the Leadership team to keep the Chapel running smoothly during the transitional period until a new pastor is installed.
Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship
Ryan moved to Enderby the summer of 2017 with his wife, Patricia, and their two daughters, Blakelee and Bria, to join the team here at the Chapel as the Associate Pastor of Youth & Discipleship. Since moving here their third child, Malachi has joined the family. Born and raised in Texas, then transplanted to Canada right out of high school, it was quite the adventure that led to Enderby. His favorite past-time is coffee (Americanos to be specific). When he isn’t sipping a nice cup of joe or spending time with his family, you can probably find him outdoors during the summer or curled up with a good book in the winter.
Ryan is passionate about seeing the next generation come to know how much God loves them and the awesome plan He has for their lives. Whether it’s in a large group setting or one-on-one, he loves talking to preteens and teens about life and how God can totally and radically transform us! He is also passionate about equipping others to invest in the next generation, whether it be parents or other adults in the church.
Bookeeper – Gerty Shipmaker
Gerty has been attending the Chapel with her husband Ian for the better part of a decade and has been on staff since 2012. As the bookkeeper, she is responsible for the day to day financial aspects of the Chapel, from paying bills and giving financial reports to the board, to issuing tax receipts. When she is not working, she is writing and directing plays for special occasions in the Chapel. She has six children, six grandchildren and enjoys writing, spending time with family and friends, camping, running and being creative.
Office Administrator – Joan Reid
Joan has attended the Chapel since 1993 and became the office administrator in 2008. Over the years Joan has been involved in various aspects of Chapel. She currently serves on the Leadership Team as a deacon and hosts a small group study in her home. When Joan is not involved in Chapel life, she is usually enjoying whatever her current favourite sport happens to be. She enjoys rowing, kayaking, cross country skiing or just doing the track at the Spatsin Center with friends.
Thrive/Jr. Youth Manager – Jesse Harder
Jesse was born and raised on a farm in central BC. She grew up learning the importance of hard work, respect, integrity, and good old-fashioned fun. She recently moved to Enderby with her husband, ten-year-old daughter and eight-year-old special needs son. Jesse is passionate about teaching kids in a fun and memorable way. She enjoys hiking through the woods, creating new recipes and is always up for a game of hockey! She joined our team here at The Chapel in October of 2018 to manage our Thrive Program and to lead our Jr. Youth Program.
